“To begin Ashtanga” Workshop with Samantha Tsz Ying Tang About the Workshop Are you curious to learn Ashtanga Yoga, yet struggle to how to start? Let yourself to explore the fundamentals of Ashtanga Yoga in the tradition of Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois through this workshop. We will explore the techniques and alignments from parts of Primary Series (Sun Salutation, standing postures, part of seating postures, backbending and finishing sequence) in Ashtanga Yoga day by day detailedly. We will also learn to integrate techniques like breath, dristhi (gazing point), bandha (energy lock) with the postures, which will allow your practise to be refined and deepened. It is a good way to start your Ashtanga learning journey. * Suitable for beginners to regular practitioners. Modifications & props could be given according to each individual body and needs. * Language medium : English About the Teacher Samantha is a dedicated Mysore-style Ashtanga practitioner under KPJAY certified teacher Clayton Horton’s guidance in Hong Kong. She also practises with Saraswathi Jois, eldest Ashtanga lineage holder of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, the founder of Ashtanga Yoga in Mysore. Samantha’s teaching style is humorous, supportive yet challenging at the same time. She respects each student according to their individual body, ability and stage of mind. She hopes to open a door of peace through teaching yoga to others. https://www.facebook.com/foreverayogastudent/ Schedule & Description Session I- 24th July, 2019, 14:00-16:00 A day for us to explore the fundamentals and details of correct breathing, sun salutations and integrated with the technique of dristhi (gazing point) and bandha (energy lock). Session II- 25th July, 2019, 14:00-16:00 A day to explore standing postures with techniques & alignments for each posture detailedly. Modifications will be addressed when necessary. Session III- 26th July, 2019, 14:00-16:00 Slowly progress to learn parts of the seating postures (til Marichyasana D) & backbending, with techniques & alignments explained. Modifications will be addressed when necessary. Session IV- 27th July, 14:00-16:00 A day for us to explore the ending postures – which include shoulder stand & headstand. Techniques & alignments will be detailedly explained, while modifications will be address when necessary. Session V- 28th July 14:00-15:30 A day for us to practise the primary sequence that we have learned in a led-class format- a guided class to experience the structure of the practise fully. ***For those who attended Session V, they must have attended Full Workshop or practised in an Ashtanga led-class before.
