Inversion and back-bending workshop

Did you ever go to a class where you were asked to go into a headstand, shoulderstand or backbend and you were left thinking “Yes! I would love to do this, but I’m not sure how?”
This workshop can help you feel more secure and strong in your Asana practice. Going into the king of the Asanas; Shirshana ( the headstand) and learning how to establish more strength in your inversions!
Going upside down is quite simply one of the single best activities that a person can do to ensure mental and physical health. Sri Patabi Jois lists over a page of health benefits for Shirshana (headstand) and Sargasana (shoulderstand). A few of them being; supporting your lymphatic system, energizing and building confidence, improving your balance, building up core strength and focus, releasing your ego and helping you to practice non-attachment which can provide new perspectives.
Backbending is said to open the heart and mind. Yoga Guru , B.K.S. Iyengar recommended back bending as a cure for depression, and suggested using backbends as a holistic alternative for heart patients. When you do a back bend, you stretch the heart you not only relieve tension stored in the muscles but you also allow the body to send off natural pain-killers. Back bends also increase mobility of the spine, improving posture, boosting your mood and relieving stress.
During the workshop the inversions and back bends will be taught step by step so you can build up a stable and secure foundation. Kristin has been practicing inversions ever since she was small and will share her childhood secrets with you!
