Contact Improvisation workshop with Ella

February 19 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm IST

Contact improvisation is a modern form of dance, in which movement starts from shared contact between two (or more) people. This workshop will be about making contact with yourself and with others through the physical body.

We will explore the qualities of making contact through improvisation. This makes it a very playful and creative way of being together and exploring your own body.

We will explore the words gravity and giving / receiving weight in these two workshops. We will try to open up the body, become more sensitive and improvise a lot through making contact and being playful!

It is possible to join both, or one of the two workshops separately.

Bring warm clothes, as we will start slowly and it is still cold inside!

About the teacher :

Ella Jonker (1994) is studying theatre in education at the Academy for Theatre and Dance in Amsterdam. Besides teaching theatre / social practises and making performances she is practising contact improvisation and other forms of free dance, like authentic movement and ecstatic dance. At the moment she is doing an internship at SPAK (School of Performing Arts Kathmandu).

Her classes are about making contact with the body, exploring the physical landscape, contact improvisation and being present. For her the exchange is important: while teaching we all need each other and we exchange our (physical) knowledge on an equal level.

As she just started teaching contact improvisation, she is really thankful to be able to practise and explore at Pranamaya Yoga Studio.
