Workshop Introduction: This workshop explores two important aspects of practicing vinyasa yoga, which is a style of yoga that links the breath together with the physical movements of the body. The reality is that it’s almost impossible to become skillful in these areas simply by taking vinyasa classes. Instead, we need to take a bit more time to explore the Principles of Vinyasa in order to be empowered to bring them into class with us.

Part 1: (Principles of) Breath in Action – Patan studio
Introduction: A dynamic and challenging class that uncovers a system for approaching the breath while transitioning between poses.
Description: This class will change the way you practice yoga. Despite the popularity of vinyasa yoga, there is little education out there about the Principles of Breath in Action. These principles were first laid down by T. Krishnamacharya, the founder of vinyasa yoga, but they are rarely taught in class due to a lack of time. This workshop will explore transitioning with the breath, including timing, stability, and breath control.
Part 2: (Principles of) Sun Salutations – Thamel studio
Introduction: A detailed exploration into Surya Namaskar, the Sun Salutations.
Description: This workshop aims at empowerment by focusing on the Principles of Sun Salutations. The sun salutations are well-rounded sequences that include forward-bending, back-bending, and transitioning with the breath. First, we find the basic movements and shapes, and then we unpack the sequence to discover the subtleties of the specific actions involved in fine-tuning the practice. Special consideration will be given to customizing the practice to meet the needs of your body.
