Balancing your Yin and Yang
Yoga is based on a huge body of spiritual teachings and techniques that have been transmitted for over 5000 years. Yin and yang is a way we talk about balance. Yang is usually associated with more energetic qualities such as moving, ascending, expanding, heat, bright, progressing, active and hyper-functioning states. It is associated with sun, fire, heat, and the masculine. Yin, on the other hand, has less energetic qualities such as stillness, descending, contracting, cold, dark, calm, quiet, receptive states. It is associated with the moon, coolness, and the feminine.
The world is made of seemingly opposite energies that interact with each other and are interdependent. This retreat is an opportunity to reflect and feel theses dynamic energies. Sensing your inherit wholeness within. Find Balance and strength within your body and mind through yoga.
In this retreat you will explore the nature of yin and yang within the practice of asana, pranayama, and meditation.
The following topics will be discussed in philosophy sessions;
– The unique subtle anatomy within the yogic model of the human being
-The inner energetic qualities of your organs, and how you can support organ health through yin yoga
– Energize and develop muscular strength, stamina and flexibility through dynamic yang yoga
– Meditation and the energy of opposites ( yin and Yang)
Both strength and surrender are needed to come to a state of equilibrium in our bodies and minds. Exploring both Yin and Yang aspects can open us up to the vast benefits of a balanced practice and teach us to meet ourselves where we are at in terms of what we need from day to day. This retreat will be an opportunity to establish balance.
“Yoga allows you to rediscover a sense of wholeness in your life, where you do not feel like you are constantly trying to fit broken pieces together.”- Iyengar
Home to 200 monks, Neydo Monastery is one of the most enchanting places in the Kathmandu Valley and close to many significant religious sites of Tibetan Buddhism. The lamas from the monastery decided to build accommodation for visitors on the monastery premises so that guest can learn about Buddhism and their monastery, and the income would help fund the education of the monks. The resort has spacious rooms, all with attached bathrooms, and is built in Tibetan style. The yoga hall has the view of the main monastery hall and the rooftop is also a great place for morning class with a beautiful view. You will enjoy the warm welcome and the shared accommodation in the vibrant Neydo Monastery.
